Christchurch
Hi-
Stayed last night in a seaside motor camp about 20km north of Christchurch- can't remember the name of the place, but sweet and surrounded by hiking, biking, walking and nature trails. Talked with the receptionist, Jaquie, for awhile about men and relationships-good for both of to try and figure it all out, but nothing really solved! Had a long, nice spa, then made soem food and worked on packing up stuff in the van- mostly going through receipts and finding MIKE stuff to purge! Had another excellent night of sleep- albeit quite short as I have had a hard time putting down the Pam Houston books to go sleep!- Thanks Shawna! Woke up early as usual, rain had stopeed, but cloudy and cold! Got into lots of layers and went for a most fantastic walk and RUN on the beach and trails!!! Took another spa and showered and made my way toward Christchurch town. Stopped at a Wat and had a talk withthe Monk there- said my prayers and on into the city. Arrived at the Dorset House- NICE. Cleaned and gave up my van - slightly teary-eyed! Went to town- to the Art Center, galleries, shops, the Botanical garden and then, FOR SHAWNA, went to the Dux Lux and had some seafood chowder and microbrews while checking out the locals. What a scene- good to see the groups of all ages gathered drinking lots of beer. Am back at the Dorset House now with the nasty job of PACKING- blah! Will arise at 4:15 for 4:45 shuttle for 6:55 flight to Auklamd. Will be there until 11 am departure for Honolulu - then will see Mahina at 10 pm and stay the night thee- back to Maui at about noon I think/
So, end of the New Zealand trip. There have been so many mixed emotions on this trip. Found lots of solitude-which was my goal, checked out the country to live, goal met and got cooled down- ready for a hot summer on Maui!
