Hi!
Still in Methven-inside as it rains all over NZ. Had 2 casual interviews today- witha primary school principal (THIS one maybe HAS principals Shawna!) and a physiotherapist. All good prospects here in this town, but nothing for certain and so will see how all goes after I get my qualifications and licenses taken care of. Anyway, LOVE this town and the delightful people in it. After my run at Peel Forest yesterday and posting last eve, I decided to head into the "Brown Pub". A local pub. I walked in in my shorts and running shoes to be the ONLY woman except one bartender and about 20 men- most in carharts, jeans, baseball hats, wooly jumpers. All eyes turned and I had to ask "are women allowed in here?" They got a kick out of that. I was assured yes, they were and more women did show up later as the pool contests started. I hade a naked Glen Fidditch and pumpkin soup and watched the pool game and one brave man, Doug, came up to my table and started a conversation. He was, a newbie in town- 2 weeks from the deep South of NZ, a diesel mechanic who made me feel at home. Nice. So, I have seen the night, off-season scene for Methven. Had a good night in the camper park, interviews this am and now off to Christchurch motorpark where I will try and pack a bit, write postcards (I have lots of NZ stamps that have gone unused- thank you Mike) and enjoy the sound of the rain on the roof. Will stay in the Dorset House in Christchurch tomorrow night and then fly out early in the morning. Feling a bit glad to be leaving NZ- what with the rain, and quite a bit to try and process about this trip. It will be nice to be home with Lola and mom and warmth with friends around. Hoping that this feeling of having to work hard not to feel "trashed" by my romantic experience here will leave soon. So, off to post photos!!! Last ones for the NZ trip!
