traveling shoes
Hi All-
The traveling shoes kicked their way out of the closet and i am on the road. Bought a backpack and some used Tevas and hit the train north out of the smog. It felt soooo great to leave Bangkok. As i tried to leave Bangkok, i was stuck in a taxi in terrible traffic and finally ditched the taxi for the skytrian, then the underground to get to the train. Made the commuter train with all the working folks and had a memorable ride with amazing Thai people north to Ayutthaya. Being in gridlock in the traffic made it all the sweeter to leave the city.
So, have been here in Ayu for a few days. It has been nice to stay at Tony's guesthouse with my friends there and just reading and relaxing and walking and smiling and chatting and fumbling in the market with my little bit of Thai language. Visting with friends brought me to some schools looking for teachers and as i casually dropped off my resume, i found myself in interviews, and then getting job offers. I told them i was still firming up my plans, but that teaching to 50 Tahi kids all day was not going to work for me, so they are trying to make an offer that will work for me. As i have some other options, i am just keeping them up to date by emails.
Tomorrow morning early i leave for Cambodia via bus. From what i understand, the roads are beyond bad and since it has been raining, it may take us 9 hours to cover 140 kilometers fromm the border to Siem Reap!!! I'm sure it will be worth the survivor type trip to be in Angkor Wat for 2 weeks or so.
Will blog again when i get there.
Hope you are all well!!!
Be in touch!
Bye!
M
