Back on Bali- with internet!

Arrived back to our Bali hotel- the Puri Bambu near the airport in Bali. We are just here for the night as we will fly out tomorrow to Flores and Rinca/Komodo for about 5 days, then back to Bali for 2 days, then back to Maui on the 12th.

It is so nice to have fast internet in a comfortable place. I have been able to resize some of the first set of photos taken and will post them next. Finally. And in the morning , or later, I will try to download the photos on the camera from Ubud, Sulawesi and the Gillis and maybe post some of them too. Not enough time to do it all!

We had a nice stay on Gilli Tarawagan- 3 nights there. Rented a boat, captain and guide for the day and went snorkeling around the islands. I was quite disappointed with the lack of life, poor visibility and heavily touristed aspect of it. I am so spoiled by Maui and from the diving in Sulawesi that was absolutely unbelievable. Dan did enjoy it though, as he was able to see some of the colorful sponges, corals and fish in the Indonesian underwater world that I had been raving about after my Sulwesi diving. We watched some surfing at some hot spots- kids and adults at separate breaks. To get to the Gillis, we flew from Bali to Lombok, then took a boat to the Gillis. Today we took a fast boat (2 hours) from Gilli T to Bali. What a ride! People got quite tossed around and Dan and I got soaked from the wild water near Bali that makes Indo famous for its surfing. *********************************************************************************
Backing up a bit- just to note- we both got VERY sick for a couple of days. We took Malarone for the mosquitoes on Sulawesi the day we left Bali. We both had terrible side-effects, dizziness, nausea, headaches, bodyaches, then the intestinal stuff set-in. We were really sick in Manado while we waited for transportation to Pulisan Jungle Beach Resort in Northern Sulwesi. That awesome place is where we recovered, vowed never to take Malarone again and enjoyed a fantastic 5 days of walking, snorkeling, diving, walking in the jungle and seeing hornbills, sea eagles, tarsiers, black macaques and being off the grid. We may have contacted some bug at the same time as the Malarone side-effects, but we will blame it on the Malarone!
Well, will post some photos now and try to download more later. Who knows what kind of internet we will have in Labuanbajo and Rinca etc. Hope to do one more day of diving while on that part of the adventure. Here are the photos- thanks for the comments!
