Bangkok flower market to Phuket

Hi from Phuket!
Thanks to all for your emails.
Ohhhh, such busy days! Dieter arrived home to a house full of flowers. The only way to imagine Bangkok's flower market is to have been there. I walked around for hours with mouth agape and arms filling to past capacity. For under $5.00 I bought over 100 roses, a dozen lotus flowers in pink and white, many bunches of oange and pink orchid stems, and other ginger type flowers along with bags of fragrant pikake type buds. I got lost and walkedr for half an hour with arms loaded and tired and finally found the river and a ferry home. The river at night is a beautiful sight with fireworks and all. Dieter came home next night and we had a nice hour chatting. He wasn't feeling well after so many countries in a little over a week. Next morning I was packing and trying to reign in my sprawl when I realized that the noon flight was actually a 10:50 flight. I broke the bad news to Dietrer and he said I had 10 minutes and maybe we could make it. It was 9:30 and we were quite aways from the airport. The mad dash through the house, clothes left in the washer, me without a shower, ....crazy!!! Poor Dieter-welcome home to a scramble! The taxi driver was a a"hell devil" per Dieter. He drove like a mad man, and I have yet to see seatbelts in a taxi. I asked Dieter if he had asked him to hurry and he said "no". The hell devil got us to the airport in racecourse record setting speed. We arrived just as they were closing the flight, but we made it!!! On the bus out to the airplane, we were delayed to let the princess' cars pass-she was flying to Phuket I think! On the bus, Dieter saw one of his colleagues who he worked with 7 years ago in Phuket. AND, at the back of the bus was Kurt, who I sat next to a week before on the flight over from Hawaii. We laughed about what a small world it is! Once in Phuket, Dieter rented a car (with seat belts) and he tried to act as tour guide of the island, but became sicker and sicker. Bouth a thermometer and he had a temp of 102.8. Got him to his friend's house and they took me to my hotel in Phuket city. Nice people at the hotel, but old and moldy descibes it well. Watched TV with English, German and other languages! This am met up with "The Germans". Evelyn and Charley are the Thai massage teachers. We FINALLY found the hotel where the training was and entered into 19 sweet , young, tiny Thai woman doing yoga exercises to an audio tape (in English thankfullly). Dieter was too sick to join us and he is to go back to Bangkok as soon as he is able to travel. I jumped right in to the yoaga seesion and at the end we all had a good laugh.... It was time to do a back to back partner stretch where you lift your partner. They all giggled and picked the largest one for me. Still, she teetered and almost fell over and we all laughed. I feel like an amazon woman here. Motivation to loose a few pounds!! The rest of the day was spent learning and practicing Thai massage. We are learning the technique of Asokananda (check the websight www.asokanada.com) and so the next 12 days (with Sunday only off!) we do yoga from 8-9am and learn and practice massage from 9-1 and 2-6. I think I will be flexible at the end. BUT.... since my new schedule is sooo full (and quite well planned) I will probably not do much blogging for awhile. Will try and check email, but the internet places are harder to find here, and the connection is like molasses compared to Bangkok's facilities.
well, it's 9pm. gotta go and eat some more great Thai food and go in for the night. Long, full learning days ahead. The Thai women are so sweet with names of " K, C, A, Eh, Nam, Won, Nie, Pui "and so forth. They are beyond belief sweet and I am learning so much from them besides the instructors. More when I have a chance!!!
